Here at Momentum Therapies, we offer several different modalities to suit your needs.
Everyone benefits from massage therapy! However, it is important to know what kind of massage therapy you need so that you get the results you want. Below is a list of the different modalities and what they are designed to address:
Myofascial Release Therapy.
If you are in pain and cannot seem to find relief, this therapy is a must. This work is designed to relieve pain by releasing bound up fascia and muscle that causes restricted range of motion, therefore causing pain.
For example, we use myofascial release therapy to address chronic pain such as migraine pain, TMJ, back pain, shoulder and neck pain, knee and foot pain and even numbness and tingling of the extremities. We also treat acute pain and injury, such as sports injuries like rotator cuff, tennis elbow, hamstring pull, Sacroiliac joint dysfunction and many others. This work is designed to relieve pain and is considered purely therapeutic. This means that you may experience some discomfort during your session in an effort to address fascial restrictions that are stuck at a very deep level.
You should be sore for only one or two days, but the level of relief is incredible! Deep levels of body work get deep levels of relief, well worth some temporary soreness.
In fact, this deep work actually triggers your body’s own natural healing mechanisms by stimulating the circulation and lymphatic flow.
Our clients have experienced significant relief and have found this type of bodywork to be the only thing that relieves their pain. We work only as deeply as you are comfortable with and will work in stages with you so that the discomfort is very manageable.
Swedish Relaxation Massage
Relaxation massage is designed to do just that! It should melt away the stress and pressures of the outside world so that when you emerge you feel like a new person. We use gentle, rhythmic hands to sweep away the tightness and tension that has probably been accumulating a while.
Swedish Massage is much more than just stress relief however. It helps the flow of the lymphatic system which in turn boosts your immune system and overall sense of well being. It also balances the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems so that your body can regenerate and heal faster, your sleep improves and your moods even out. There are numerous benefits to this wonderful and relaxing modality. We encourage our clients to utilize this modality at least every 4 to 6 weeks to stay on track.
