Oriental Medicine is based on the ideology that the human is an inseparable spirit-mind-body whose health is dependent upon the transformation of Qi (pronounced “chee”)
Qi is often explained as “life force” or “vital energy,” but also references the material, i.e. our physical bodies. Qi is in a constant state of flux and it is just that state of flux that regulates our well-being. Often, our Qi is deficient or restricted, which may manifest in a beleaguered immune system, illness, lethargy, etc.
Often, it is a toxic build-up within our bodies that inhibits a free-flowing Qi. Toxins enter our system through diet, smoking, environmental and other factors. Toxic build-up can occur in many areas of the body including the liver, the lymphatic system, the digestive system and blood, and in any organ on a cellular level.
